To live a Proverbs 3:5,6 "and he shall direct thy path" kind of life is not a perfect or easy way, but focuses my heart to trust and listen to God day by day.
Spurgeon said "one drop of Christ’s fellowship is enough to sweeten an ocean of trials. Just to know that He is near, to enjoy His presence and to see His gleaming eye, would transform even hell into heaven".
It is in these times that we're given special times of encouragement that blesses our lives and we feel the nearness of God.
The great sustaining energy during trials and difficulties is an active, working faith in the Christian that is empowered by the Holy Spirit. It is not some blind ignorance to the realities of the dark valley and swift current of sufferings that seem to be pushed by providence. The facts cannot be denied concerning the mystery of life's hard riddles balancing the prayer of faith that moves the arm of God and accepting His sovereign purpose.
Sometimes the desire to stay in a holding pattern has to give way to unknown steps trusting to learn more of how to walk by faith and not sight!
"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about"-Psalm 32:8–10
